HUMAN - Out of the Dust
Hidden inside the 5th track on their one-and-only (ever) CD called Out of the Dust, Christian rockers Human adeptly planted Bullet the Blue Sky in a gritty, passionate send-up that's totally ear boggling! In the almost exact center of their debut album dated April 28, 1998, rests a cover of the U2 song that is not to be missed. (It's worth buying the whole CD for, and there are plenty of cheap ones available at amazon and eBay.)
Their original song, Read Your Mind, appeared on a Christian hard rock/'metal' compilation called Organic Culture about 10+ years ago. The only memorable song on that album, Read Your Mind prompted me to find out anything and everything about this rare breed of animal on the Christian Hard Rock scene, and unfortunately, there was not enough to satisfy.
Fast forward to about 4.45 minutes in to track 5 and I was rewarded mightily with one of my favorite anthems of all time. Not billed on the CD, I only found mention of it when I did a sweeping search for the now-disbanded band on the internet.
I found an old review of the CD on http://www.crossrhythms.co.uk/products/Human/Out_Of_The_Dust/2627/
where former band member Vic Sapp has been responding to comments left by fans as recently as September 2009!
The lineup on this CD is:
1. Read Your Mind
2. I.O.U.
3. Make Your Light to See
4. I Can't Live
5. Hand Me Down
6. In the Name
7. Lemonade
8. Fat Man's Delicacy
9. Disguise
10. Feel
Apparently, plenty of people want to see this band get back together (and get a better label). Consensus is that this is a favorite 'underground' CD in the Christian Alternative/Rock/Metal -whatever-you-want-to-call-it history of the world.
If you've heard it in it's entirety, please leave your comments here. Thank you.
